Biography
One of the founding partners, Elyrhey Cesar R. Vasig likewise heads the Litigation and Dispute Resolution as well as the Labor and Employment practice areas of the Firm.
As a litigator, Ely has a penchant for novel yet practical legal strategies and solutions to complex commercial and criminal litigation. He possesses broad investigations, litigation, arbitration, and counseling experience in a diverse range of legal matters. Offering clients considerable expertise in both procedural and substantive law, Ely has successfully litigated before various administrative and arbitral tribunals; quasi-judicial and judicial courts; and was part of teams that appeared before the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court to advocate key and innovative legal positions. He handled numerous multi-jurisdictional investigations; parallel criminal and civil litigations, as well as simultaneous proceedings on multiple fronts. He has led prosecutions on sophisticated fraud and multi-million fund misappropriations; aided clients initiate or defend against enterprise-threatening litigation; strategized on high-stake commercial disputes; and initiated claims on contractual and/or legal liabilities and damages. Ely focuses on critical, complex, high-stakes cases, leveraging his litigation and trial experiences as a former Court Attorney of the Court of Appeals; and an associate of Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW) and Puno & Puno Law Offices (PUNOLAW). Relying on vast and varied practice, he assures client of expertise drawn from both front-line and high-level experience.
As a labor practitioner, Ely advocates and advices on different areas of labor and employment laws, particularly as regards labor litigation; the conciliation, mediation and arbitration of termination, labor and employment disputes; labor impact of mergers and acquisitions; legal considerations of employment-related projects and undertakings. He has also been a bar review lecturer for Labor and Employment Law.
Presently, Ely actively promotes the integration of legal technologies in the Philippine legal system and profession. Ely is as a co-founder of LegalTech Philippines and Legal Hackers Manila. He is also a founder of several legaltech start-ups. Ely consistently pushes for policies that enable and encourage innovation and modernization in the legal profession and in the delivery of legal services.
Ely also has relevant experiences on energy and power-supply sector, specifically in connection with the acquisition, pre-development, and development of companies engaged in power generation and distribution, as well as participation in several energy/power generation projects. Ely also engages in public-private partnerships, public biddings and projects from small-scale to multi-billion dollar investments.
Given his diverse legal practice and exposures, Ely serves as legal consultant for various government department/agencies. Currently, Ely is a legal consultant for the Department of Finance and the Presidential Communications Operations Office. Previously, Ely was a legal consultant for the Philippine Sports Commission.
