Ruben V. Abarquez is a litigation and labor lawyer in Davao City with over forty years of experience under his belt.
Ruben is not only known for his prowess as a lawyer, but also as a leader among his peers. Ruben was elected to various positions in the Davao City Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines—as Secretary and Vice-President in 1989 to 1991 and as President from 1991 to 1993. From 1990 to 1992, Ruben was also elected as the President for Region XI and as Vice-President for Mindanao of the Philippine Association of Voluntary Arbitrators, the arbitration arm of labor disputes in the Philippines. Meanwhile, in 1986 given Ruben’s track record for integrity and legal excellence, he was appointed by President Corazon Aquino as one of the Councilors of Davao City of the Philippines’ revolutionary government after the ouster of President Ferdinand Marcos.
An educator at heart, Ruben was a full time professor of English in the Ateneo de Davao University High School from 1969 to 1976. After placing 9th in the 1976 Philippine Bar Examinations, Ruben was a professor at the Ateneo de Davao University College of Law from 1977 to 1987.
